Spring Break!

March 7, 2008 at 3:13 pm (Uncategorized)

This week I did a lot of research but one of the coolest things I learned was that my author first wanted to become a surgeon and really had no interest in becoming a writer. For spring break i fully intend on sleeping. . . alot, and maybe workin on my project a little haha.

Update on Brithis Author

February 29, 2008 at 3:16 pm (Uncategorized)

My partner and I are just getting into the swing of things. This week really started reading our books, and began our quote analysis. We also started an outline/rough draft of what we want our research paper to consist of.

Social Action Research

February 29, 2008 at 3:12 pm (Uncategorized)

So I’m really excited about the project my group and I decided to do. We’re doing “Operation DD”, where we plan on setting up a program to drive teens home, if they choose to drink so they dont end up driving themselves. My group consists of Kayla, Ben and Brandon. We’re going to start by talking to students throughout our high school, and possibly have police officers come in and show students the dangers of driving under the influence. We’re thinking about doing a fund raiser so that the people who drive would have gas money, we were thinking that we could do a car wash or even just set out jars for people throughout the community to put donations in.

P.L.A.Y.

February 22, 2008 at 3:26 pm (Uncategorized)

Project P.L.A.Y. or, Promoting Literacy from Athletes to Youth was an orginization started at a new high school where there wasnt very much school spirit. The student council got together and decided they needed to do something, so every Friday eight athelets would go to the local elementary school and read to the little kids, to show them that reading was “cool”. The athelets were then looked up to as role models so after they went and read they realized they had to be more responsible because all of the little kids looked up to them.  I thought this was a really good idea because not only did it get the people in high school involved but it alos got the little kids involved, so that one day when they were in high school they would do the same things that had been done for them. It also made reading seem more important, so that the kids would continue to do it.

Do It In The Dark

February 22, 2008 at 3:11 pm (Uncategorized)

Do it in the dark looks like a really neat orginization. They plan to have a party in the dark thats only lit by glow in the dark things to help promote the conservation of energy. At the party they plan on handing out flyers and magnents with conservation tips, and ideas of alternative energy. I thought this orginization was really cool, because they came up with a trendy new way to show people differnt ways to conserve, and shed a whole “new light” on the topic.

My first offical blog

February 15, 2008 at 3:29 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m doing my research on John Keats, he was a poet, so its kind of hard to find actual books that he has written. The high school library doesn’t have much to offer, so we’re going to have to go to the O.J.C. library to find more books and sources. However the things we’ve found so far about his life story are very interesting, and I’m beginning to see how the things that happened in his life shaped him into the author he was. My partner and I have began sketching out a plan of what we want to do for our presentation, and our organization is working really well, and we’re staying on schedule. We should definitely have our projcet ready to present before our scheduled day.
